Rafi.ki Kidogo Guide

Educator Sign-Up
Is your school already a member of Rafi.ki Kidogo?. To register as a teacher in your school and have access to all areas of the site, you just need to register by following the 'Sign up' link at the top right of your screen or clicking here and typing in the name of your school, then entering your details and clicking register.
Is your school not on Rafi.ki Kidogo yet?. To register as a teacher with a school that is not a member of Kidogo yet and have access to all areas of the site, you just need to click on the 'sign up' link at the top of the screen, type the name of your school and scroll to the bottom of the list of schools until you see the link '+ Register a new school'. Alternatively, just click here and enter yours and the school details.
You are not sure if your school is a member of Rafi.ki Kidogo. To check if your school is a member and register as a teacher, you just need to click on the 'sign up' link at the top of the screen or click here, type the name of your school, have a look to see if you find your school in the list of members, click on it and register as a teacher. If your school is not listed, scroll to the bottom of the list and click on the link '+ Register a new school'.
Student Registration
Want the whole of your class to enjoy Rafi.ki Kidogo? Register your students by navigating to Educator Zone > My Students. Here you will have the option to register many students at once, register a single student or create a group key so that students can register themselves.
- To register just one student, click ‘register single student’ and enter the proposed username, password and personal details of the student you are registering. If you have entered an email address for this student, the log-in details will go straight to them. Otherwise this information will be sent to you to pass along.
- To register many students, click ‘bulk register students’. This will take you to a page where you will be asked to copy and paste the details of your students from a spreadsheet into the text box provided. This should be name, followed by surname, followed by email address. Click register and a set of usernames and passwords will be generated. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pen handy, these will be emailed to you. Your students can then use these details to log in to Rafi.ki Kidogo.
- To create a group key so that students can register themselves, go to ‘generate group key’. From there, you can type in a special code created by you to be your group key, or you can choose to automatically generate a group key. Give this code to your students, then when they come to register they can simply enter this group key and automatically be added to your student group.
Change My Personal Settings
Want to change your profile, password, or any other personal details? Just navigate to Me > My Settings and change whatever you don’t like. Remember to click save when you’ve finished!
Communication
Making new friends and chatting to people all over the world is what Rafi.ki Kidogo is all about. Find other Rafi.ki Kidogo users by going to the Talk section and clicking Atlas. There, you can search for people by name (if you know it), continent, or country. Click on their name and you’ll be able to see their profile, email them and add them as a buddy if you want (this feature is not available to non-registered users)
Emailing people directly is a great way for teachers to forge partnerships, or students to make friends!
Send and receive emails by navigating to Talk > Messaging. Here you can access your inbox and can also find a link to be directed to the User Directory. To send an email, go to Talk > Messaging and click ‘message’.
Adding Buddies
Adding buddies is easy. Just navigate to Talk > Altas, find the person you want to add and click ‘add as friend’ once you’ve been redirected to their profile page. Type in a message and then click ‘send’. That person will then receive a buddy request, which hopefully they will accept!
Create a Page
Go to Me > Create and click on ‘page’. This will direct you to the page editor. Give your page a title so that everyone knows what your page is about. Then type whatever content you want to include into the textbox underneath. You can create other resources, such as polls or quizzes, these will appear on the left hand side - feel free to drag these into the textbox too, to add a bit of variety to your page (for more information on creating polls and quizzes, see below)
If your resource is only appropriate for a certain age group, feel free to enter minumum and maximum ages.
Then, indicate whether or not you would like others to be able to see it.
Create a Poll
Polls are a great way to see what everyone else thinks about a certain issue. To create a poll, navigate to Me > Create, and click on 'Poll’. Enter your poll question where it says Title and add your possible answers in the Answer boxes. You can add more answers by clicking ‘add answer’. If your poll relates to a certain issue, feel free to tag it (eg. HIV) and remember to indicate whether or not you want other people to be able to see it.
Create a Quiz
Creating a quiz is very similar to creating a poll. Navigate to Me > Create, and click on ‘Quiz'. Give your quiz a title and indicate whether or not you want other people to be able to see it. Type in the first question and the possible answers. Indicate if these are correct by ticking the ‘points’ box underneath. Add alternative answers by clicking ‘Add answer’ and add more questions by clicking ‘Add Question’
